Title I

Title I is a federal program that provides supplementary funding for eligible students who qualify for services based on academic performance. The Title I program at SRES serves students in kindergarten through second grade who demonstrate a need for extra assistance in reading. Student eligibility in the Title I program is based on data from Amplify (mClass and TRC) and Reading Renaissance (STAR Early Literacy and STAR REading).

The Title I program provides students with extra support above and beyond the regular classroom and uses research-based best practices to meet the needs of students. A focus on early intervention is critical. Students in grades kindergarten through second grade receive a minimum of 30 minutes additional reading instruction five days a week during the school day. At SRES, Title I staff also provides parents two “Family Fun” nights which encourage collaboration and provides families needed resources to help their child at home.

The purpose of offering Title I services is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.
