Superintendent's Message
Welcome to the Superintendent’s corner of the South Ripley website. My name is Rob Moorhead and I am proud to be the superintendent of South Ripley Community Schools. As a graduate of South Ripley High School, it gives me great pride to be leading my home district. I began my duties as superintendent on August 1, 2012 and know that I am part of a district that is on the rise! We are an “A” rated district by the Indiana Department of Education and have shown tremendous growth in our student achievement. We achieved District Accreditation as a Quality School System from the AdvancED Accreditation Commission in 2014. We are also proud of the fact that our Junior High School has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School as well as an Indiana Four Star School!
I am a graduate of Hanover College and spent the first 25 years of my professional career in the South Dearborn Community School Corporation. I was a math teacher and basketball and track coach for the first 11 years, followed by five years as the Associate Principal and nine years as the Principal of South Dearborn High School. My wife, Lisa, is also an educator and she currently serves as the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Student Success at Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg/Batesville. We have two sons, Brad and Trent, who are both teachers and coaches. Brad teaches junior high math and coaches basketball in the Richland-Bean Blossom School District, while Trent teaches math and coaches basketball at Hauser High School. Additionally, I come from a family of educators as my father spent his entire 40-year career at South Ripley High School with the last 23 of those in the position of Principal. My mother taught English and journalism for 38 years at South Ripley. I have three older sisters who have all served in Educational Leadership positions as well.
